We are here - safe and sound, and getting acquainted with the University of Ghana.The vegetation is lush, deep greens with brilliant colors.

Everyone is healthy and adjusting very well. We begin our course work today. Prof. Justice is a very engaging professor and is very passionate about his subject matter. A group of students went to church with him and his family on Sunday. There was beautiful music, much dancing, and enjoyed the celebration of prayer with the congregation.

We met faculty from Central University, Iowa and they are very interested in our program. They may visit us this fall to talk with us. How exciting!

Kat and I spent an afternoon with Samuel and his family. He has been saving for 5 years to have a formal Ghanaian wedding ceremony for his wife, Cecilia. We attended their special celebration in summer 2011.

Chubby and Shama are our mascots while we are at the hostel. Chubby is not too sure about us yet and Shama has no trouble asking for food!

Emmanuel and Comfort cooked Ghanaian meals with us during our trip last summer. We will be cooking FuFu, RedRed, and other yummy Ghanaian food.

The Manuel Guesthouse & Hostel in Winneba will be our home for 5 weeks.

We will travel to Cape Coast to see the Slave Trade Castle.
